Sandler and Associates

Dr. Cindy Ward Sandler
Dr. Sandler is an experienced, licensed psychologist.  She received her Ph.D. in 1979 from the University of Maryland.  Over the years, Dr. Sandler has worked in different arenas in psychology and has loved them all.  She has provided counseling for children, adolescents and adults, conducted workshops, and worked in treatment centers for emotionally disturbed adolescents.

Most recently, Dr. Sandler has devoted herself to providing psychological and educational testing for children and adolescents. The goal of the testing is to help set in motion the supports a child or teen needs to be the best they can be. The testing process, parent and teacher reports, classroom observations, and interactions with the child allow Dr. Sandler to provide reports with richness and detail for each child with whom she works.  In her final reports, written in such a way that important information can be easily understood, Dr. Sandler presents specific recommendations for parents and teachers to better help the child.

In addition to the psychological and educational testing, Dr. Sandler is a popular public speaker on a multitude of topics including: brain functioning, learning, child and adolescent development, and parenting among others.  She was the co-host of The Learning Connection, a call-in talk show sponsored by the Weinberg Academy.

Being The Best You Can Be

The following poem was written by a student who has graduated from a prestigious local high school and attends Towson University

Messy papers
Lots of mistakes
Smudged handwriting
Tons of eraser marks
Wrinkled papers
Dyslexia/Dysgraphia

I before e or is it e before i
Missing letters
Reversals b, d, p, q
Words upside down and round and round
Saw becomes was and from is for
Dsylexia/Dysgraphia

Teacher asks question
Student tries to hide
Oral answers should be easy
But the wrong subject comes to mind
School is hard
Dyslexia/Dysgraphia

Report cards arrive
The grades look horrible
No one will even understand how hard we work
Hours studying
Get you a D
Still we kee trying
Dyslexia/Dysgraphia
